Jewellery Making Workshops in Halifax

Come make something beautiful.

Step behind the bench and experience the magic of making jewellery by hand at Meg Lizabet Jewellery’s flagship Halifax studio.

Our small-group workshops are designed to give you a genuine introduction to the craft of jewellery making in a relaxed, welcoming setting. No experience is necessary. You’ll be guided through the process from your first idea to a piece that feels entirely your own, learning real techniques and getting a glimpse into the wonderfully imperfect, hands-on world of a working jewellery studio.

Choose from a rotating selection of workshops, including lost-wax ring carving, Mitsuro Hikime, pendant design and other traditional and experimental jewellery-making techniques. Each class is a little different, but the idea is always the same: slow down, play with beautiful materials, learn something new and leave having created something you’re genuinely excited to wear.

These aren’t paint-by-numbers classes, and we don’t want everyone leaving with the same piece. You’ll have room to experiment with texture, shape and design while receiving plenty of one-on-one guidance along the way. Perfect for complete beginners, creative date nights, friends visiting Halifax, birthdays, solo adventures or anyone who has ever wondered what it feels like to make their own jewellery.

Your finished piece is then professionally cast and finished, transforming what you created at the bench into a lasting piece of jewellery and a pretty great answer to “Where did you get that?”

Made by you. With a little help from Meg.

About the Space

The Meg Lizabet Jewellery flagship is a warm, colourful and intimate space designed to feel somewhere between a working artist’s studio, a jewellery box and a really beautiful place to spend an afternoon.

Located in Halifax, the space was designed and built by Meg herself, with almost every detail thoughtfully chosen to reflect the personality of the jewellery and the experience she wanted people to have while visiting. Original exposed brick, warm wood floors, rich green velvet, soft pink details, plants and collected objects give the studio an eclectic character, while large windows fill the space with beautiful natural light throughout the day.

Rather than separating the process of making jewellery from the finished pieces, the studio brings the two together. It is a working jewellery studio, retail shop and creative workshop space all under one roof, giving visitors a glimpse into the world behind the jewellery.

At the heart of the workshop are custom workbenches with seating for up to eight guests. Classes are intentionally kept small, creating a relaxed environment where everyone has their own workspace while still receiving plenty of individual guidance. The goal was never to create a traditional classroom. It was to create a space where people could settle in, feel inspired, experiment, ask questions, make a mess and genuinely enjoy learning something new.
