Mitsuro Hikime is a traditional Japanese technique using a specially blended wax that becomes soft and pliable when warmed in your hands. The wax is gently stretched, twisted and pulled into delicate strands, creating the flowing lines and subtle textures that make this process so distinctive. No two pieces can ever be exactly alike.

During this hands-on workshop, you'll learn how to prepare and manipulate Mitsuro wax, pull fine strands, and layer and shape them into your own ring, earrings or pendant design. I'll guide you through the process from your first strands to a finished wax model ready for casting.

After the workshop, your wax piece will be professionally lost-wax cast in sterling silver, then cleaned and finished before being returned to you as a wearable piece of jewellery.

No jewellery-making experience is necessary. This workshop is designed for complete beginners as well as creative people who simply want to try an unusual, centuries-old jewellery technique.

Your workshop includes all materials and tools, instruction, casting in sterling silver, and professional finishing.

Come prepared to get a little wax on your hands, experiment, and create something that could never be perfectly recreated, shaped entirely by you.

Once your wax ring is complete, we'll take care of the rest. Your ring will be professionally cast in solid sterling silver and polished within 4-6 weeks of the class. Delivery or pickup will be arranged.
